Both Joaquin and Reese did their own singing. Joaquin was terrified by the fact that he would have to sing, because he had never done it before. And also he was convinced that he was a bad singer. But as all of us can see, he did it very well. He trained with vocal coaches for a long time. Besides, he learned to play guitar.
Many big Hollywood studios, such as Sony, Universal, Focus Features, Paramount, Columbia Pictures and Worner Bros refused the project, so James Mangold spent a lot of time searching who would take it.
